How I work
A safe space, at a pace your body can manage
The first step is a phone call to give you the opportunity to express your needs and for me to answer any questions you have.

I create a space that is safe for you to explore how sensation, emotion, mindset and behaviour feel in your body. Every experience has a felt sense that goes with it. Trauma is when our nervous system holds on to negative experiences and then mind and body create unconscious patterns to help us survive and avoid that feeling again.
During sessions we slow everything down to a pace your body can safely process. When you begin to release some of the overwhelm to a point and it's not smothering anymore, life can take on a new essence. A more embodied intimate relationship with yourself can mean you are able to sense activation and add resource before it gets too uncomfortable. Being able to sense what pleasurable feels like in the body gives you a more joyful life. Experiencing more vitality, happiness and freedom in your life allows confidence and strength to emerge.
We will also work on embodying positive and valuable practices in your daily life so you feel like you are in control of your health and wellbeing.
Warmly, Nicki
One integrated approach
Rather than booking a single therapy, you work with Nicki. Each session can draw on:
We will incorporate breathwork and non-linear movement into my sessions. This gives you tools you can use at home. We will talk about self care as we go along so you can make the necessary changes in your life at a pace that is your own.

Questions
Things people often ask

What happens on the free phone call?
It's a chance for you to tell Nicki what you're looking for, ask any questions, and decide whether you'd like to work together. There's no obligation.
Do I have to talk about what happened to me?
No. In Nicki's words: "There is no need to tell or relive your story again." Sessions work with what your body is doing now, at a pace it can manage.
Can I have sessions online?
Yes. Every option is available in person (Howwood or Kilmacolm) or online, at the same price.
How many sessions will I need?
Everyone is different. Nicki offers single sessions and blocks of four or ten, and at the end of each block you review where you are together and decide the next step forward.
What if I can't afford the price?
Nicki works on a donation basis: "If you can afford the price above I would appreciate it but if not we can decide what is affordable for you." Mention it on your call; there's no need to explain.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. You stay fully clothed for every part of a session.

Is this a replacement for medical or psychological care?
No. Sessions are complementary and are not a substitute for care from your GP, a psychologist or other health professional. If you're under their care, keep them informed. If you're in crisis, please call NHS 24 on 111, Samaritans on 116 123, or 999 in an emergency.
Is Nicki's faith part of the sessions?
Nicki's Christian faith is central to how she now works. Talk to her on your free call about what that means for you.
